Quinta do Espinho
Quinta do Espinho, in the municipality of Tabuaço, occupies 20 hectares on the mouth of the Távora River with the left bank of the Douro River, the center of wine growing in the Douro Valley, where some of the emblematic port wine estates are located.
Its logistical and strategic situation is exceptional, in accessibility and, above all, in the enormous viticultural, landscape and environmental potential in the productions to which it is dedicated.
The terraced vineyards stretching from the river to an altitude of 195 meters are joined by a nutrient-rich soil made up of laminated pieces of schist that retain the moisture needed for the vines to survive in the almost arid conditions that prevail for most of the summer.
In 1986 the project to install new vineyards and restructure the old vineyard began. In 2010, the winery and warehouse facilities were upgraded.
Quinta do Espinho's production is oriented towards estate wines, having started its commercialization in 1996.
All wines are produced, elaborated and vinified with selected grapes, which allows to guarantee high quality Quinta wines because the entire cycle, from the selection of the strains to the vinification, is internally controlled.
Our wines also reflect the investments made in the recovery of the old lagares and a new winery, which was completed in 2011. We favor the combination of traditional winemaking methods with temperature control, in lagares with the most modern winemaking and aging technologies, in stainless steel casks or vats, as desired.
