Other nominations were also presented, but the Douro and the 19 brought the award to what is probably the region that most represents wine, wine tourism and the people and entities that, in various ways, are dedicated to its production and promotion. The Douro is therefore the European City of Wine in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All around wine was a supra-municipal application that involved the participation of the 19 municipalities that make up the region and will therefore be transversal to the entire territory. The Douro thus advances with joint and concerted strategies and initiatives among the 19 to project the region, wines and tourism in this new year, believing that the initiatives carried out now, within the scope of the European Wine City, will be able to bring immediate added value but also in the medium and long term, especially with regard to the tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The title European City of Wine was created in 2012 by RECEVIN, with the aim of promoting European wine producing regions.
